Apple Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients
For the Cream:
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 8g (1 tsp) vanilla sugar
- 60g (4 tbsp) granulated sugar
- 40g (4 tbsp) cornstarch
- 250ml (1 cup) milk
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 30g (1.5 tbsp) butter
For the Cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2-3 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
Prepare the Cream:
1.In a saucepan, whisk together the egg, pinch of salt, vanilla sugar, granulated sugar, and cornstarch until well combined.
2.Gradually add the milk while continuously stirring to prevent lumps.
3.Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to bubble. Remove from heat.
4.Stir in the lemon juice and butter until melted and fully incorporated. Let it cool.
Make the Cake:
1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish or two 9-inch round cake pans.
2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3.Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
4.In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
Assemble the Cake:
1.Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan(s). Spread it evenly.
2.Layer half of the sliced apples and raisins over the batter, followed by half of the cream mixture. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cream.
3.Gently swirl a knife through the layers for a marbled effect.
