Fresh Cream Doughnuts

Fresh Cream Doughnuts

Fresh Cream Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cake flour
  • 4 tablespoons castor sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup castor sugar for tossing
  • 1 tablespoon milk powder (optional, but adds a nice touch!)
  • Fresh cream for filling
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. First things first, let’s prepare ourselves! Gather all your ingredients and get ready for some delicious doughnut fun. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake flour and 4 tablespoons of castor sugar. It’s time to mix things up!

2. Now, soften that butter. You can either leave it out at room temperature or give it a quick zap in the microwave for a few seconds. Add the melted butter to your flour mixture, along with the milk powder if you decide to use it. Mix until it forms a lovely dough that’s ready to be kneaded.

3. Sprinkle a little flour on your countertop and dump that dough out. Knead it gently for a few minutes until it’s smooth and ready to roll.

4. Roll out the dough about 1/2 inch thick and grab your favorite round cutter (or anything round you can find!) to cut those doughnut shapes. Make sure to cut out the centers to create the classic doughnut shape.

5. Time to heat things up! In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once it’s hot (you can test it by dropping a little dough in—the dough should sizzle), it’s frying time!

6. Carefully drop a few doughnuts into the hot oil. Fry them until they’re golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Keep an eye on them; you don’t want them to get too brown!

7. Once they’re cooked, let them drain on some paper towels to soak up that extra oil. While they’re still warm, toss them in the remaining castor sugar. Yum!

8. Finally, when they're just cool enough to handle, fill those delightful doughnuts with fresh cream. Oh, the joy of biting into a fluffy doughnut filled with creamy goodness!
